AIDS Counseling
AIDS may be faced by those of any age.  As with any disease or condition which is life-threatening, a variety of emotions will be experienced (such as fear, loss, anger, depression and hopelessness).  Life threatening illnesses necessitate a drastic restructuring of one's life, as well as that of family or friends.  It may force a person to leave a rewarding career, end recreational activities once enjoyed, affect image/self-esteem, change family structure, change relationships, and dramatically impact financial status.

The stages of grief must be addressed by both those suffering from AIDS and those providing support.  AIDS patients benefit from psychotherapy to address the challenges for both the individual and his/her family and friends, preparing each other to face the situation with both dignity and strength.
