(also see: 'Stress', 'Fear/Phobias', "EMDR" and "Hypnotherapy) Anxiety is a feeling of worry or concern which may be connected to a specific threat (fear of flying, fire, public speaking, etc.) or which may be a generalized agitation with no known source. Anxiety may range from mild to severe. Mild anxiety might involve difficulty concentrating, fearful thoughts, muscle tension and difficulty sleeping. Serious anxiety includes panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive feelings and behaviors, traumatic events or severe stress. Professional intervention may help prevent mild anxiety from turning severe. Therapy may include hypnotherapy, EMDR and/or behavioral therapy. Severe anxiety issues may indicate a need for medication (prescribed by a physician or psychiatrist) as well as behavioral therapy by a professional counselor.
