Borderline Personality Disorder is one of the most complex mental health disorders. Those suffering from BPD often feel a variety of painful feelings and display instability in a variety of aspect in their lives. Frequent changes in mood (elation to depression) may occur in rapid successions. There is a dramatic fear of abandonment and an inability to be alone for any length of time. Often the client's anger is exhibited toward themselves and others, and in extreme cases may involve self harm such as cutting or scratching self or frequent thoughts of suicide or actual suicide attempts. There is often an underlying depression or agitation, which must be treated. Those suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder are more effectively treated if both counseling and medication are received.
