Divorce Recovery

Divorce more often than not strikes one partner more dramatically and painfully than the other. It often involves multiple related losses in addition to the loss of the partner (loss of full contact with children, financial severity, family and friendship network, homestead changes, etc.). Therapy to address these losses will focus on the specific losses most important to the individual but almost always addresses the rebuilding of self-esteem, the understanding and acceptance of the relationship breakdown, the realistic evaluation of strengths and limitations, and the development of constructive plans for the future.
