EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a procedure shown to be highly effective for clients with post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, chronic pain, fear, and anger management.  EMDR uses the body's natural method of dealing with trauma.  During "REM" sleep, the eyes moves from side to side in a rapid manner which bi-laterally stimulates the brain and allows the brain to process 'stuck' feelings.  By use of EMDR, the client may take advantage of this process by determining the focus by holding an image of those issues needing to be addressed.  This method is quite rapid and does not involve a trance state.  It is oftentimes less threatening than other methods of dealing with trauma and oftentimes results in a shorter period of treatment.
